Choose To Focus On The Positive

Posted in Encouragement, Encouraging Bible Verses at 1:19 am by Administrator

Perhaps the greatest attribute God has bestowed upon human beings is “free will.”  God has given every sane person the ability to choose and to make decisions for themselves.

We are constantly being called upon to make choices in life.

When you choose to focus on the positive, your life will have a positive quality.  On the other hand, when you choose to focus on the negative or if you entertain the wrong thoughts, the quality of your life will suffer greatly.

Some Bible Verses About Where Your Focus Should Be:

Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. (Colossians 3:2)

For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.  (Romans 8:6)

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee; because he trusted in Thee.  (Isaiah 26:3)

Your focus in life will greatly determine the quality and direction of your life.

If you choose to focus on the “stresses” of life, you will eventually drown in depression.  But when you concentrate on the blessings God has given you, you will be lifted to authentic optimism.  The more preoccupied you are with the highest and the best–The Lord, the more content and at peace you will be.

“You have two attorneys in your mind, one gathering evidence for “Life is awful’ and the other gathering evidence for ‘Life is wonderful.’  You’re the judge and can rule out any evidence you choose.”  (Jon Rogers and Peter McWilliams in their book, You Can’t Afford The Luxury Of A Negative Thought, 1991)

“Positive anything is better than negative nothing.”  Lorraine Hansberry, author of  A Raisin In The Sun

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, if there be any praise, think on these things.   Philippians 4:8
