True praise and worship of God says that the most important things in this world are NOT of this world. You cannot praise God if you have never met God.

Praise takes first place in the vocabulary of worship, as God comes first in the life and thoughts of believers.” Larry Richards

Praise must come from a genuine and vital relationship with God.” Ronald B. Allen

“IF YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE AN ATTITUDE, HAVE AN ATTITUDE OF PRAISE.” Banner in sanctuary of First Providence Baptist Church, Long Beach, CA , Pastor Artis Lanier, May 2012

“Men spontaneously praise whatever they value.” C.S. Lewis

Praise involves joy. (Psalm 100:1-2: 122:1; Luke 2:20; Luke 18:43)

The word “Hallelujah” is the Greek tranliteration of two Hebrew words: “halal” which means “praise” and “Jah” which means “God” or “The Lord.” Literally, “hallelujah” means “praise God” or “praise the Lord.”

Why Should We Praise The Lord?

  • We should praise God because He Is Worthy.
“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things: and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” (Revelations 4:11)
  • We should praise God because He is a deliverer. (I Samuel 17:37; II Timothy 4:18)
“For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling. (Psalm 116:8)
  • We should praise God because He is good. (Psalm 34:8; 25:8; 33:5; 119:68; 145:7)
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.” (Psalm 103:2)
  • We should praise God because He is great. (Psalm 86:10; 95:1-3; 104:1)
“Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable” (Psalm 145:3)
  • We should praise God because He is holy. (Isaiah 6:1-3; Leviticus 11:45)
“Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at His holy hill; for the Lord our God is holy.” (Psalm 99:9)
  • “I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name forever.” (Psalm 86:12)
