Drawing The Line Somewhere

by Evangelist Manuel Scott, Jr.

We must all concede that the flesh is a snare
And this cross we must daily bear
But in spite of this fact the Word still teaches
That a line
Must be drawn
Somewhere.

Temptation is powerful, compelling and strong
The smell of Sin is sweet like perfumed air
The pull of lust is like a magnet
But Pilgrim
A line
Must be drawn
Somewhere.

It is folly to believe and an illusion to maintain
That your strength, against Satan’s, can compare
For the Devil, about you, is far too wise
Be sober!
A line
Must be drawn
Somewhere.

There are those who say that permissiveness is the way
That one should boldly take up Life’s dare
But upon examining their horrid mess
You would see
That a line
Must be drawn
Somewhere.

And so, Dear Ones, I am even more convinced
Regarding these things I’ve tried to share
That if Sanity is to live and Decency survive
There must be
There has to be
A line
Drawn
Somewhere.

“Let all things be done decently and in order.”
I Corinthians 14:40

Poem taken from Evangelist Scott’s Turning On The Power: Poetry Of Life And The Spirit booklet

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” II Timothy 3:16
