On reflecting on Nelson Mandela’s 94th birthday today, I remembered a quote from my father in my book, The Quotable Manuel Scott Sr: Words From A Gospel Genius about Mandela:
In speaking of the near angelic graciousness and utterly remarkable absence of hatred and ill will that characterized Nelson Mandela upon his release from prison after twenty-seven years, my father remarked, “There are some things prison cannot jail.” Quote # 395
